Malé is the Capital of the Maldives and the first place that you will see when you arrive at the airport. This is the first place that was developed in the Maldives and obviously has the shortest transfer time. Situated on Kaafu Atoll the resorts on this island tend to be smaller and more luxurious than those found further afield in the Maldives. |

Average temperatures in the Maldives are surprisingly constant (30°C to 31°C) all year round, with night time temperatures not dropping below 25°C. Rainfall is lowest from January to April, monsoon season runs from May to September, with some light rain in October and November. December can have rough, windy weather and rain. |

January to April January to April are generally the best months for diving with good visibility and great weather. May to September is the monsoon season which brings more storms and cloudier days. October to November are good weather months but water visibility is reduced by lots plankton, although this does attract some larger marine life. December can be a variable month with high winds and rain. |

With arguably some of the best diving in the Maldives, North Malé can have some strong currents, but if this doesn't put you off then it is well worth considering. Having said this there are more divers per site than else where in the Maldives and some may find it abit crowded. The corals in the area are in great condition with plenty of shallow reefs and groove structures to explore. |

Getting to the Maldives is relatively simple there are many daily flights from European and North American hub airports into the capital Malé. Operators to consider include Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Sri Lankan Airlines and Qatar Airways. Once in Malé it is usually a short boat transfer to your hotel. |

The focus of a holiday to the Maldives is relaxation, other than diving, resting on the beach and watching the stars in the evening there is not much else to do here. If you are looking for an action packed holiday, you may want to look else where. |
|
This is an expensive destination as everything has to be imported to the islands, so if you are looking for value for money then you may consider another destination. As mentioned above, there is not alot to do here other than relax and enjoy the diving. |
