Located on the westerly Caribbean side of the island, north east of Cayo Largo and east of the Bay of Pigs.

The climate is sub-topical with cool trade winds reducing the heat and humidity.Temperatures are generally around 80°F (26°C) between December and March heading to 90°F (32°C) between July and August. Most of the rain falls on the island in September and October. The also Hurricane season runs from May to October with most hurricanes striking between August and October.

December - March

Diving on the island is ok all year round, although during winter the seas can be choppy, as a rule of thumb the best visibility is from the end of November until late May. August, September and November are when you are most likely to spot a whale shark off the coast. Please also bare in mind the hurrican season overlaps this period from May to October.The peak tourist season runs from December through March which coincides with the dry season on the island, with the beaches and resorts most busy during Christmas and Easter holidays. Prices are more competitve during the low season.

This area is known for good wall dives, gorgonian fans, sponges and some nice pelagics. There is also the chance to dive on some inland caves known as the Cuban Cenotes.

Direct flights are available from most US hub airports and Gatwick in London. In-direct flights are also available from London Heathrow and most european airports. From London, Havana is approximately 8 hours, and from New York is 3 hours 30 minutes.

Known for long sandy beaches, the main focus in the area is on diving.

Hotels and attractions tend to overbook in the high season, so expect overcrowding.
