Located just north of the equator, Malaysia boasts everything that might tempt you to Southeast Asia, from vibrant modern cities to traditional merchant ports and remote villages in pristine rainforest landscapes. With a melting pots of various cultures and customs, its peoples and influences have created a diverse, welcoming society that travellers the world over enjoy. Malaysia is made up of three main regions; to the west are the Peninsular Malaysia and the two states of Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo. With beautiful beaches, warm blue sea and some of the world's oldest rainforest found in Borneo to the ultra-modern capital of Kuala Lumpur, there is plenty to see and do here. The Malaysian people are a multicultural bunch with influences coming from many of the surrounding countries. The main religion is Islam, yet there are also many Christians, Sikhs and Hindus. The language spoken is Malay, but English is also common. The local currency is the Malaysian Ringgit. |

Generally the weather is hot and humid with temperatures around 30°C (86°F). Mostly tropical climate is experienced round the year. However, the monsoon varies on the coastline of Peninsular Malaysia. On the west coast, the rainy season extends from September to December, whereas October to February tends to be the wet months on the east coast. In the east of Malaysia, specifically Borneo the heavy rains are between the months of November to February. |
Generally the best time to visit is during the dry season, please see above when this is. |

In our opinion the best diving in Malaysia is in the northern state of Sabah on Borneo. With exceptional reefs, plenty of marine life, sharks and turtles to see. |

Direct flights are available from Europe and the U.S. to the capital, Kuala Lumpur. Internal flights to local destinations are readily available with the state carrier Malaysia Airlines. |
Spending time in the capital Kuala Lumpur is a good idea, with its endless shopping malls and restaurants. Outside of the capital Malaysian Borneo is truely beautiful with endless rainforests, orang-utans and beautiful beaches. |
Malaysia is a considerable distance from Europe and the U.S. making short stays impractical. |
