Esperance has some 200 islands surrounded by clear waters with some 140 islands composing the Recherche Archipelago. If you choose to dive around the Bay of Isles, you are likely to see a nice mix of sponges, soft corals and perhaps some pelagic fish, seals and dolphins. Many of the dive sites have swimthroughs, granite walls, large caves, and nice drop-offs. Finally the Sanko Harvest is the biggest diveable ship wreckage in Austrialian waters and the second biggest in all oceans. This Japanese carrier was 174 metres long and sunk in 1991 approximately 32 km away from the port of Esperance. The Sanko Harvest attracts hundreds of tourists to the area. |
