Ras Mohammed is one of the marine reserves which is easily accessible by boat from Sharm el-Sheikh. Diving in the area is one of the main focal points for a trip to Sharm el-Sheikh. It should be noted that it costs $5 US to dive in the marine park.

Egyptian days are commonly warm or hot, and nights are cool. Egypt has only two seasons: a mild winter from November to April and a hot summer from May to October. The only differences between the seasons are variations in daytime temperatures and changes in prevailing winds. In the coastal regions, temperatures range between an average minimum of 14° C in winter and an average maximum of 35°C in summer.

September to October

Egypt is best visited in the autumn (Sept-Nov) and spring (Feb-Apr). The weather is relatively chilly December through January, except in the southern Red Sea coastal areas, where the winter is very pleasant. The summer is the only time to be avoided due to the very high daytime temperatures.

Ras Mohammed is arguably one of the best dive locations centred on the Red Sea Coastal Areas. The diving here is very good, however dive excursions are on a truly massive scale, due to the large amounts of tourists who come here to dive, so expect very large dive excursions with small dive boats almost a thing of the past here.

The majority of the ship wrecks in the area are within Ras Mohammed, such as the world renowned Thistlegorm wreck and the Dunraven. Water temperatures range from 22°C to 30°C. Diving is split into two areas; the Straits of Tiran and Ras Mohammed National Park. Both dive areas are good with plenty  of reefs, wall dives and lots of fish to see.

Flights from most locations to Sharm el-Sheikh can be purchased at a reasonable price.

Around Sharm el-Sheikh are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Activities such as camel rides and 4x4 treks are widely offered. Day trips to Cairo, the pyramids and Petra (Jordan) are also possible from this location.

Some of the reefs are over dived and have been damaged by Hotel developments. Some dives which were truly excellent 15 years ago are now unfortunately only average.
