Pomene although difficult to get to, is a beautifully remote location with some excellent dive locations. Located on a peninsula between Vilanculos and Maxixe, Pomene doesn't have a town, but is centered on two resorts Pomene Bay Lodge which sits next to the ocean and Pomene View looking out onto the estuary. |

Light aircraft is probably the best way to get to Pomene, with a scenic flight over the peninsula, flights are reguarly available from Vilanculos. The drive to Pomene is a difficult one due to the poor state of the roads and shouldn't be attempted unless you are in a 4x4. From the main road there is a sand road to Pomene, and due to the poor quality it will take approximately 3 hours to get there. |
